Is there any way this could work against you?

I know writing one for HYS is useless, but what about Columbia?

I believe the consensus is that for a place like Columbia, it is either neutral (it's Columbia so they know why you want to go there), or could work against you (i.e. poorly written/thought out).

I think that T6 is inappropriate. MVP seem to enjoy them, but above that the schools seem to take for granted that of course you want to go there.

this. MVP and D are the schools where they matter the most

ETA: Penn is leaning toward the five year plan essay though
