TYPO

Post by sandwiches5000 » Sun Oct 30, 2011 11:28 pm

Crap. My essays were impeccable when it came to grammar and I thought everything else was but I think most of my applications have this towards the bottom of my listing of honors and awards:

"I am member of the following honors societies...." instead of "a member."

How bad is this, particularly since it was just a listing and I would assume some people may even list without writing in complete sentences in this section?

I had a bad typo in my PS for one of HSY. I followed it up with a replacement one and a note asking them to switch it, and got in.

I am sure that is fine. I just didn't know if it was a problem since I did actually write in complete sentences and I forgot that lovely a. I feel like it's too minor to be worth correcting?

it may draw attention to something that would have been unnoticeable otherwise. tough call

GAHHHHH I don't know what to do but if I do something it has to be soon because I submitted and some of my apps are already under review.

I wouldn't draw attention to it. I'm sure these things happen frequently. If it makes you feel any better, I found a similar error on my PS...and I edited and read that damn thing a million times. No one is going to reject you because you made a tiny mistake. Maybe a bunch of errors all over your app will look bad, but one minor mistake won't hurt you.

Also, they will probably be speed reading and the brain usually auto fills. They may just read it as intended.

PS: I advise against reading apps after they're submitted. You will over analyze and freak out about every tiny thing. Speaking from experience.

:/

I suppose. I just need all the help that I can get because I'm a very borderline applicant. Bleh.

Actually, I think there might be two missing "A"s because of freaking autocorrect on Word.. I'm not 100% sure though.

I think since it could be two errors I'm going to send out an updated list of awards to my schools and just say I made a change but not mention the typographical mistake(s)?
