Re: First semester, senior year grades - relevance?
I was just about to make a thread like this, but more along the lines of "when does the LSAC calculate your GPA". I'm assuming its your GPA after your junior year? Do those senior grades get factored in? Probably what is important is knowing what GPA the law schools have to report, since according to TLS, that is what they care about in an applicant. So does anyone know which semester's GPA is your official LSAC GPA that law schools have to report back with?

Schools will ask for an updated transcript to confirm that you graduated, but you send that directly to the school and not to LSAC, so it won't change your LSDAS GPA. Thus, they don't need to report your new GPA to USNWR. Thus, they don't really care.

On the other hand, if you send your first semester, senior year grades to LSAC and they raise your GPA a point, say from a 3.4 to a 3.5, will this help your application? Example, median is 3.4 and the 3.5 puts you above median, while your LSAT is also above median...possible scholly money?

So you're not giving them an update after first semester senior year? You only send the final transcript at the end of the year? That'd be pretty great.Hawkeye Pierce wrote:Schools will ask for an updated transcript to confirm that you graduated, but you send that directly to the school and not to LSAC, so it won't change your LSDAS GPA. Just to rephrase to make sure I'm correct. After your spring semester of junior year, as long as you are passing your classes, your grades do not matter and will not be seen by law schools until after you graduate and are long since accepted/rejected?bernaldiaz wrote:So you're not giving them an update after first semester senior year? I can't answer your question but I think you can answer mine. So the last grades that law schools have from you is after your junior spring?PrincetonLaw wrote:i started a similar thread (see below) but my case is different in that I've been out of school for a yr now. should i update my transcript?

Anyways, I obviously haven't gone through this, but after reading your situation I would assume you're obligated to disclose those grades?PrincetonLaw wrote:correct.
