2011 Law School Recruitment Forums- Are they worth going to?
I'm debating driving a couple of hours to attend a LSAC Law School Recruitment Forum sometime in the near future, but I'm not convinced that it would be worth going. Are there any advantages to attending one or is it a total waste of time?

Definitely a waste of time. The one I went to had the admissions people from a bunch of schools, but they're really not going to remember you- even if you're stellar.
They did have some admissions people giving application advice in a speaker panel setting, but it's nothing that you can't get from TLS.

I guess I'm delusional in thinking that somehow an admission's officer will remember meeting me when they look over my application. In reality, it seems unlikely that they send the same people looking over applications to these types of events. I guess I've answered my own question... maybe...

Not true at all. Admissions people remembered me (I actually ran into the same person from a local school at another event and she remembered me). Follow up with an email. If you ask generic questions, they'll remember you in the generic sense. You have to have something specific to reference back to in the email.

I didn't go - do they give away free shit? I would debase myself for some Cooley Law swag.

Great opportunity to ask for fee waivers. And, yes, they do remember some students, but it probably doesn't affect admissions chances. However, if the ride is several hours each way, then better to ask for fee waivers via e-mail.
