First in Family Question

Post by Cornelius » Wed Oct 05, 2011 2:06 pm

I noticed a few apps ask if you're

1. First generation college graduate and
2. First in your family to pursue a graduate degree.

Does this refer to immediate family only or further? For example, neither of my parents graduated college, but a grandfather did and also had a graduate degree.

I would assume any directly linear relative would count

It's generally immediate family, usually up to, and including, the grandparents.
