Why X Statement and Personal Statement

Post by wildcat25 » Mon Oct 03, 2011 11:03 am

So for my top school choices, I plan on writing a Why ____ statement to show that I know why I want to attend the school. My question is, is it better to include this information in my personal statement or is it fine to just attach this as a supplemental essay? My personal statement is already at the 2 page limit, so adding this stuff would mean I would have to cut more from the body, which is something I'm trying to avoid. Am I being neurotic or is there any difference?

Supplemental essay is fine. If you can include information about the school into your PS organically that is great, but schools don't really expect it and a Why X addendum is completely normal. Shoot for roughly a page double spaced though a little shorter or longer is fine too.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. With the new flex application style is there a way to attach a supplemental essay if there is no actual place listed to upload it? Under attachments it lists each attachment so if it's not listed can we not send one?
