Potentially dumbest ? ever

Post by oregon000 » Sat Sep 17, 2011 5:00 pm

Should the personal statement and resume be the same font? Aesthetically speaking since they will be part of the same pdf? I haven't slept for weeks due to this issue

No. You'll want Comic Sans for the PS to show a bit of personality, but the resume should be professional and conservative - probably Times New Roman or maybe even Garamond.

Don't you dare ever suggest TNR, again.

Comic Sans is fine for both.

I actually thought you wanted a joke answer. You really haven't slept for weeks?

ha no it has not kept me up at night, but it is a serious question. I figured some others on TLS would have similar aesthetic concerns.

Ha that is really funny. But I have already ruled out comic sans and chiller. Any input toward my original question?

It doesn't matter. But personally I'd just play it safe and use Times New Roman for everything.

My resume was in TNR and my personal statement was in Calibri and I don't think it made a damn bit of difference. Don't fret over stuff like this; just use whatever you would use to write a paper or whatever.

Use Garamond. Smaller and prettier than TNR. The italics are kind of weird though.

Palatino Linotype is the credited answer. If you want something a little less formal (and not quite so small) I'm a fan of Candara. /fontnerd

Georgia is good, but I don't like how it reads onscreen at smaller sizes.
