Degree from India-Can I apply for law school in USA?
Hello
I live in California. I am planning to attend law school here, I have completed my bachelors degree (3 yrs) in business management from India. Can I still prepare for LSAT and join a good law school? or is it necessary that I need to have a 4 year under graduate degree from USA. Also, how long does it take to prepare for LSAT?
Thanks
Minu

use the search function.
no, LSAC rates foreign transcripts as "superior" etc.. you can probably find a list and more information on google.
You can take the LSAT anywhere in the world basically.
How long it takes to prepare is entirely dependent on your current performance and your target performance. I would study for at least 1-3 months.

My question is: With my 3 year degree from India, Can I still join law school in USA or is it necessary that I have 4 yr undergrad from USA.

I had the same question. I have a 3 year degree from India too.minakshiyerra wrote:My question is: With my 3 year degree from India, Can I still join law school in USA or is it necessary that I have 4 yr undergrad from USA.
I did call several law schools and all of them confirmed that 3 year degrees are valid as long as they are recognized by LSAC. That said, many of them had not seen an Indian applicant in a while, so I am not sure whether to trust their answer.

I am pretty sure you can. I interned at a law firm in India this summer and one of the lawyers there had a JD from the US. He went after he had worked for a few years and had gotten his UG degree in India. It might be a little weird with the way LSAC rates the transcript, but its definitely doable. Just do well on the LSAT.

British students have three year degrees (except a few from Scotland, I believe) and they have no trouble applying to US law schools.

No you cannot... you have to have a four year undergrad to apply to a JD...
I knew someone who did one year of their post-grad to make-up for a yr and then applied.

India is using British System. BA/ BS from any country is acceptable to enter law school in USA.

No, You are wrong. British system is different than US school system.
IF you have 6 'O" Level ( ordinary level ) certificate you can get to most US Universities. "O" level is equivalent to 10th grade in US school sysytem.
If you want to go university in England you have to passs 5 "O" level and 3 "A" level ( Advance Level).
From "O" level to "A" level it take about 2 years of schooling.
In other word high school standard in US is lower than British system.
