Longtime lurker, first time poster. I've reviewed the Useful Links post (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/p ... 2&t=152447) in this forum and had a question about the strengths and weaknesses of LawSchoolNumbers (http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com) and AdmissionsDean (http://www.admissionsdean.com). What are the benefits of establishing a profile on these sites? Does someone become a member simply to satisfy a voyeuristic curiosity or do these types of sites provide reliable metrics to help predict specific admissions outcomes? Any with experience (or cautionary tales) about either site would be greatly appreciated.

I would venture a guess that for schools that have tons of applicants, they can be very accurate at guaging one's chances.

Data on a school with 800 applicants and very clearly defined trends on the GPA/LSAT graph will probably be very accurate.

On the other hand, a school with only 20 applicants participating on one of thse sites is much more sketchy.

That makes sense -- like any crowd sourcing website, it's pretty much all about the numbers. Not sure if either one of these sites has the traffic/subscribers it would take to move the needle in either direction. We'll see, the cycle has just begun!

Never heard of admissionsdean but lawschoolnumbers was a pretty awesome resource when I was applying.

Dude is a liar, an alt, and a shill for AdmissionsDean.com. It's kind of sad that someone is faking being 0Ls in order to talk about how great that site is. Apparently this person has been doing it for some time, too, under multiple accounts.

A cautionary tale: It turns out that several past posters on TLS claiming to use and like AdmissionsDean.com were all this guy. Which means their AdmissionsDean.com profiles must have been fake, too. Do you want to rely on a site full of fake profiles?

I'd just like to note that LSN has been useful for TLS posters year in and year out since I registered. They're trustworthy and have a good reputation, as far as I know. IMO, they're legit.
