It depends on what your needs/goals are.
For many people self-prep is adequate. Just get your hands on powerscore bibles and practice tests.
If you've taken practice tests and are struggling to break 150, it's probably worthwhile to wait for a course.

Yeah you're assuming a prep course is necessary, or that a lack of a course means less LSAT prep. I self-studied and did just fine with the PS Bibles and prep tests, along with resources that I found online. If you feel like the structure of a prep course is needed to get you to study or if you're really struggling with the material, then maybe it's necessary, but I would try to take a diagnostic, assess your needs, and then consider studying on your own to reach your goals. Even if you find you need a course, you'll still have a better idea of which course is appropriate given your needs.
