ED and Reapplying

Though obviously not recommended, is it correct to say that you can withdraw an ED acceptance and reapply to other schools the next application cycle without adverse fallout?

The ED only binds you for the cycle in which you do it. Why wouldn't it be recommended to withdraw for another cycle?

I just meant putting yourself in a position where you have to sit out a year and possibly burning bridges with an admissions committee.
