Another "Should I write an addendum" question Forum

Before I took my first LSAT, my grandmother was admitted to the hospital about 3 weeks before the exam, and passed away a week later. It certainly took an emotional toll on me and my concentration, and I received a 169.

I re-took the exam and scored a 171.

On the one hand, it seems a little silly to write an addendum for only a 2 point increase (especially considering how most people improve about 2 points on a re-take IIRC)

However, the difference between schools viewing my score as a 170 vs 171 is huge in regards to median and 75 % LSAT scores, and schools state to mention why there would be any reason to consider one score over another.

So, what do you guys/gals think? Worthy of a mention, or too small a difference to merit anything?

No school will treat your score as a 170, they all see a 171. No addendum is needed.

This makes sense.

The way I see it, if the school is concerned about their median/75%, they'll focus on your high score as it is the only one that needs to be reported (171).

On the other hand, if the school is more holistic, the two point jump won't make much of a difference as it is in the standard deviation of the LSAT--3 points according to a lot of admissions websites I've visited. They will instead focus more on the other parts of your admissions package than this 2 point change.

Alright, seems to be pretty universal. It's the direction I was leaning in but it's always nice to hear what other people think. Thanks for the responses!
