How much does Early Decision help?
Sooo right now I'm at 3.95/163 (about 5 below PT average), with a solid PS and LoRs and my softs aren't too bad. Anyways, lawschoolpredictor.com has me at about a 62% chance at Minnesota - Twin Cities right now, but it doesn't take the stats into account with ED. Given the sage advice I've been reading here, does anyone think if I ED there it's anything better than a toss-up? I guess I'm asking just how much of a difference that and an application in mid-late September would help. I do have some MN roots to play up a bit in the PS.

To answer your question: it varies by school. The UVA ED boost in kindof legendary, for others it's not really worthwhile. I'm not sure where MN falls on this list.
According to LSN people with your number profile stand a very good shot at MN already: http://minnesota.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats
Your GPA is fantastic, with an LSAT at 167 you could possibly nab a full ride. Have you considered retaking? Your actual LSAT score being 5 below your PT average should also be pushing you to take the test again.

Definitely agree. If your LSAT score is really 5 points below your average PT score, you should seriously consider retaking. Annoying advice, I know, but it might be a good idea.

Yeah, I've decided that I'll most likely retake in December if I'm not in any of my top choices (GWU, MN, Fordham). Only thing is, I felt pretty confident coming out of the 163 June test, and there's not much of a reason to think another go at it would be any better. I think there's a good shot at U of Washington and U of Colorado as is, though, even if a retake is another 162-64, so I don't suppose there's any downside? What do you guys (or gals lol) think?

Your PT average 5 points higher is a reason to think that another go would be better.Klinklang wrote:there's not much of a reason to think another go at it would be any better.
I would not, however, recommend retaking in December in case you haven't yet been admitted to any of those schools - you want to apply with your higher LSAT score, so no reason to wait until then and hope that no one has rejected you yet. October would be much better.

No shot. Gotta be above one of the medians. Only shot looking at LSN would be Georgetown. If you are cool paying sticker I'd ED to Georgetown with those numbers.lawschool12345 wrote:with an ED to Virginia with a 3.7 167 would i have a shot, what about other t14s?

Doesn't offer much, if any, help because it isn't binding. You just find out the decision quicker.
You have the kind of numbers that will get you into some good schools with big money, but T-14 is tough because you are below both medians everywhere except Georgetown GPA.

Re: How much does Early Decision help?
People with your numbers got more money than that from BU and BC, as well as Fordham. And there were people with your numbers who got into Georgetown and Cornell, so the T-14 is a possibility. When did you apply? That scholarship seems pretty low if it is your best option. Of course, I always recommend re-taking, but that's just me.
