If it's higher, it can only help

Re: Does a third LSAT score hurt you?
I think it can hurt at the very top schools - think T6. For the rest of the T14 it might impact scholarships more than admission.
As was said above. If it goes up, it can only help.

Re: Does a third LSAT score hurt you?
The vast majority of schools take the highest score. If you honestly think you can score higher (170?) then nail it. It can only help, and may shore up some Scholly money for you also...just dont score lower lol. The info about T6 is interesting, though this is the first time I've heard of it. At the end of the day I think if you are realllly confident about it, then retake it again. But make sure to get your apps in early so when LSAC updates ure LSAT the schools already have your file processed (maybe your multiple test 168/170 will be accepted before someone with only a 1 test 168/170 from next year's December test is even looked at. Keep in mind, each test is different and may play to your weaknesses OR strengths...I was in a similar situation (scoring in the mid-high 160's) and ended up with a 163. c'est la vie and good luck.

with a 154 and a 163, you absolutely have to retake. totally worth it for the upcoming cycle.

I had three scores- 157, 164, 172. Totally worth it to retake.

I am in the similar situation, don't know what to do. I have 154 from Oct 2010 and 165 from June 2011. RC is my worst section, I got LR -5, LG -1, RC -11... Should I retake?

Re: Does a third LSAT score hurt you?
Yes, it is usually my worst section but it never was that bad.. Usually I score -5-7 on it... Really frustrated...Leighmak wrote:IamIn wrote:I am in the similar situation, don't know what to do. Is RC generally your worst section? This is where I got most of mine wrong this test as well, although it's generally a section where I do well. I think many people struggled with this particular RC on the June 2011 test.
Even if it is always your worst section, you have lots of time before October to focus on improving that weakness, and if you're strong in the other types, it looks like you'd have a really good shot at improving!

Leighmak, maybe you are right... But i have the same concerns as you do... That another retake won't look that good... and the idea of spending so much time studying again is killing me...

Eugenie, what school did you end up going to?
I have exactly the same thoughts.... 90% chance I will retake... although have no idea how to improve RC...

I'm in the same boat, 156 to 167 and thinking about a retake. This has been helpful. Eugenie, did you write an addendum explaining why your scores were so varied?

I did- many interviews with deans on TLS recommended one, so I did. It went like so:mandolin wrote:I'm in the same boat, 156 to 167 and thinking about a retake. This has been helpful. Eugenie, did you write an addendum explaining why your scores were so varied?
Although I studied diligently before the June and October 200x LSAT administrations, I focused mainly on repetitious drilling. In preparing for the October 200x administration, I began to analyze my weaknesses and shore up trouble spots instead of repeating these same mistakes over and over again. Preparing in this way allowed me to improve greatly over the four months in which I studied until I reached a practice test average of 172. With these factors in mind, please consider my October 200x score as the most indicative of my potential and abilities.
