Something WEIRD on Academic Summary Report
Hi all,
I just checked out my updated Academic Summary Report, with my final grades after graduation.
Now, I didn't get honors at school, because my senior thesis counts a lot for that (and I didn't get a straight A), although my GPA is pretty decent overall.
However, on my Academic Summary Report, it says "Notes from transcript: Academic Honors."
Now that I'm complaining, but can someone explain? Is the LSAC using a GPA cutoff and calling everything above it honors?
Thanks.

LSAC doesn't determine the cutoff for honors. It's a note from your transcript. If you in fact didn't receive academic honors at any point, then it's a mistake. But getting on the Dean's list would be academic honors, even if it only happened once. To the left of where it says "Academic Honors" it should say the term in which you were awarded honor's, usually for making dean's list in a given semester.hypothalamus wrote:Hi all,

Hmmm... Thank you, robotclubmember!
It says this year. I wasn't aware my school had a Dean's list, but I guess it's not unlikely that something like that happened the first semester, when I had a straight 4.0. I'll probably call our registrar and ask

Re: Something WEIRD on Academic Summary Report
I'm so glad you made this post - I just checked my report today and had the same question. Academic Honors = Dean's list, makes sense (even though I only made it in Fall 2008 and Fall 2009, but it's listed for the entirety of both academic years), but my report also says "Advanced Credit." Does anyone know what that means? The transcript I can view online through my school doesn't have any note of this..hypothalamus wrote:Hi all,

At least on my transcript, "advanced credit" indicated that I transfered credits from AP classes I took in high school.Killingly wrote:I'm so glad you made this post - I just checked my report today and had the same question. Re: Something WEIRD on Academic Summary Report
I transferred in 6 credits from an AP class, but the Advanced Credit designation was listed on the 2009-2010 academic year, and I started the year before. I guess it really doesn't matter what year it's attached to, but it seems strange. Thanks for the help!

Killingly, that's the thing... I looked at an official transcript printed on the same date as the one sent to LSAC, and there is nothing to indicate honors or Dean's list...

Yeah. I mean, if they WANT to make it look like I had academic honors for those two years, then I'm cool with it. You'd think it'd be more "accurate," though.

Either way, it isn't something an admissions committee will care about. You won't get points for being on the Dean's list, or lose any for not being on it. They just care about your LSDAS GPA. Academic Honors won't get reported to USNWR.

I wasn't acting like I was going to "trick" law schools with this or get some sort of advantage, it was just something strange that I wanted clarification on. Wonderful info, though, dude. Really.robotclubmember wrote:Either way, it isn't something an admissions committee will care about. You won't get points for being on the Dean's list, or lose any for not being on it.
