Re: 10 years from now, will Yale still be #1?
USNews doesn't give law schools prestige it is a poor attempt to measure their prestige. Yale is no 1 no matter what USNews says.
Also stop viewing the ranking as a list. It's more of a pyramid.

This is idiotic. The rankings are important, but slight movements don't matter. Yale will always be in the top tier of law schools, NYU will always be in the tier immediately below YHS, etc.

That's damn straight, but what's the thing useful for if I can't listen to albums other than Pyromania?Patriot1208 wrote:I think that just means you've been on it for a long timeahduth wrote:I think mine's broken. In ten years, I'm sure US News will get on board and see Yale for the festering TTT it is.

It better be, or I'm wasting a lot of time on the LSAT.
But seriously I doubt it won't be. They're much more selective and, more importantly, much smaller than Harvard so that will always give them the edge in the rankings. And it will continue not to matter because a lot of the people with HYS numbers that want Harvard don't even apply to Yale.

Re: 10 years from now, will Yale still be #1?
I would go out on a limb and say Yale will never be knocked off as the #1 law school.
It's just the way the rankings work.
Unless all the top students suddenly decide to enroll at Harvard for some weird reason during a cycle and all the other pieces fall into place, I doubt Yale will ever surrender their No. 1 spot.

The best part about this is how they say "How did Cooley rank number 2?" and then have "The Top 20 WITHOUT Cooley" and "The Top 20 WITH Cooley".ahduth wrote:Anyways, Yale isn't #1 anyhow. You people need to get your facts straight:

...
like we couldn't figure out what the first list would've looked like with Cooley in it....
don't explain the joke

Also stop viewing the ranking as a list. It's more of a pyramid.
Also, Yale is number one in the USNWR rankings because they outspend every other school by a large margin. Harvard and Stanford trade places because they spend about the same. It then becomes a giant clusterfuck at the bottom of the T14 with schools switching places because the differences in the amount each school spends is not very large.

Re: 10 years from now, will Yale still be #1?
Someone asked a Dean Candidate at my school how to raise USNWR. He basically said he's going to try to find someone to give a donation of about 200 Million and name the school after him.bk187 wrote:This.Desert Fox wrote:USNews doesn't give law schools prestige it is a poor attempt to measure their prestige. I'm going to be pissed if it's the Reinsdorf School of Law by the time I'm done.
