LSAC Transcript

Post by bos2clt » Fri Jun 17, 2011 2:17 pm

Hi all,

When sending transcripts to LSAC, is there a special form that must be sent from undergrad institution, or do they merely need to send a copy of transcript? My school, as i'm imagining is the same everywhere, will send transcripts to whatever address you input on website. Just want to confirm that LSAC doesn't require any kind of certification from school.

Thanks so much!

You need to give an LSAC form to the school. The form needs to be attached to the transcripts.

I can't find anything about this on the LSAC site. All I see is:

Once you register for the Credential Assembly Service (CAS), contact the registrar from each educational institution that you have attended and have your official transcript(s) sent.

US, its territories, and Canadian transcripts should be mailed to:

Law School Admission Council
662 Penn Street
PO BOX 2000-M
Newtown PA 18940-0993

If there is a form that needs to be sent, where would I find it?

Thanks again.

When you start entering all your information, it asks what institutions you've attended (it's under Apply>Credentials>Transcripts, when you're logged into your LSAC account). For each one, it will generate a form with a barcode that you send to your school (or give to the registrar) to include with the transcript they send off to LSAC.

So if my school has sent a normal transcipt to that address without any form, LSAC will just discard it I presume?

Just make sure the form is enclosed.

Probably. They need at least your LSAC number to match you.

Thanks, I understand, I will do that now. But the school has already sent a transcript without the form, so just want to ensure that won't create any complications.

I would assume that it would get through the system, maybe just taking longer since the barcode would have told them which CAS candidate the transcript was for, and now they have to look you up by name. (If you have a common name, there may be a problem.) You definitely still need to enter each of your institutions in your account on LSAC so they know what to do with a transcript from Whatever State U when they get it.

When you get around to your recommedation letters, you MUST use the LSAC form.

FYI, LSAC will answer almost any question you have if you call them, and they're actually quite helpful.
