yes. you will not get any money if you ED. i would suggest applying to Y and H. I think you have at least a good chance at H. Plus you should get money from at least a few other schools. I would say apply to the entire T14 minus S and B if you don't want the west coast. You should have lots of options. Probably end up being money from one of CCNMVP vs. H.

People who ED to receive scholarship money sometimes (e.g. I received some merit-based money from Duke even though I applied and was accepted ED).
However, unless I am totally misinformed, I would not ED to any schools. Your 174 LSAT puts you above the median LSAT for every law school. And, since you go to a very respectable, well-known international institution for undergrad, I think that, regardless of not having a "real" GPA, you stand a pretty good chance at gaining acceptance into HYS. LSAC will give you their view of your GPA though (average, above average, superior, etc.).
While HYS does not give out merit-based money, they do give out financial aid money and, I think, would be worth it to attend over CCN if you gained acceptance. If money is a driving factor for you, I think that you would gain acceptance and probably a little bit of scholarship money from either or both of Columbia and NYU.
As you go down the law school rankings, the more money you may receive assuming you don't get YPed (these schools would be Penn, Duke, etc).
Best of luck.

Yield protection. Schools have to report the percentage of students who matriculate after being offered admission. The higher the better, so schools sometimes deny or waitlist applicants who are overqualified (above both 75th %iles) because they know that they'll likely get into better schools and withdraw from their school even if they were offered admission.pineappledazzler wrote: What does YP stand for (something about it happening at Penn, Duke etc)?

Oh, okay - I didn't realize that happened once you got past undergrad admissions. Though hopefully it won't to me, I'm nervous about being in one of those in-between pools!

Oh and one more thing - will I be able to qualify for the Duke priority application without a GPA? How will I know if I do?
