Re: Rising 2L at Columbia Law taking questions
Thanks for posting!
Did you do any 0L prep and do you feel like it helped or would have helped?
Is there anything you know now that you wish you'd known prior to 1L, and that maybe would have changed your approach?
Best/worst thing about CLS? General impression?

flame?sweetenedrise wrote:Message me your questions about law school admissions or how to do well in Law School. I went to Harvard as an undergrad, had a 3.8 GPA and a 179 on my LSAT. I was accepted by HLS, SLS, UofC Law, Cornell (ton of merit $), Penn (ton of merit $), Columbia Law (full ride). Waitlisted at YLS then rejected. I am of a lower financial background, so I had to take the money. As much as I wanted to go to Stanford for the beautiful California weather, it wasn't worth the 150k that I'm saving at Columbia. I can give advice on admissions to top law schools, and how to succeed in law school. Currently I'm on a Hamilton fellowship at CLS, and received no grade under A-. I am not involved with the Law Review here, but rather, I spend my time working part-time working as a legal intern at a local wall street bank to help pay for daily expenses. So, shoot me your questions as messages and I'd be glad to help out as best I can!
Best,
Will

Do you have any advice on Personal Statements? Did you tailor anything specific for CLS?

Re: Rising 2L at Columbia Law taking questions
I don't know why anyone would take the time to create such a detailed flame but there's no rising 2L at CLS from Harvard named Will. If that's not your real name, I really don't understand why you would make up fake name for an internet forum where no one asked you to volunteer your name.
The original post is also sketchy as anything. I've never heard of anyone working part-time during law school at a top tier school much less interning at a "local wall street bank"(seriously? No one has ever used that string of words together before). Additionally, I really really doubt that the OP interned at the DOJ, Supreme Court, and White House as an undergrad. Much less so considering the fact that he didn't even do anything freshman summer.

I agree with your point about people doubting others are more accomplished than they are and the crabs in a barrel mentality here at times. However, you didn't intern your freshman summer. So you interned the summer after your Sophomore year. After your junior year and then after your senior year while being a Fulbright? Come on. The last part isn't even possible.

I interned for the House of Reps. last summer (freshman) and this sophomore summer I'm not doing anything (by choice, though my resume will include something I'm doing at home) so it is possible.Stoic wrote:I agree with your point about people doubting others are more accomplished than they are and the crabs in a barrel mentality here at times. But yeah the OP does seem to have a lot of accomplishments.

Re: Rising 2L at Columbia Law taking questions
I'm still a little skeptical regarding your biography not because of how impressive your achievements are but it just came off kind of weird the way it was written. I certainly know of people more accomplished than either you and I so I'm not saying it's impossible. The fact that people troll all the time for a variety of purposes invites a healthy sense of skepticism when reading stuff on the internet.
Regardless of whether your post was true or not, you seem definitely well intentioned with your posts and be giving out helpful advice so I don't seem any point in accusing you of being a flame or doubting your accomplishments. Kudos on your accomplishments and thanks for posting.

How did you get such a great score on the LSAT? How did you prepare for it?
Thanks

Re: Rising 2L at Columbia Law taking questions
From your experience or your classmates' how much of a help was work/volunteer/internship experience prior to law school when it came to 1L/2L OCI?
Is it all about grades like everyone says? What other factors help significantly?
