Sociology Major
Hi,
I am currently an undergraduate student at an Ivy League school and am a sociology major.
sociology is considered an easier major here. Will that hurt my chances at getting into a top 10 law school?
I also have a very high gpa and have yet to take the lsat.
For the moment, lets just assume that I get the lsat where it needs to be.
Thanks.

The schools won't care what your major is. Do something you enjoy and get a high GPA. That is all that matters. High GPA and high LSAT. Get yourself a very high GPA and an LSAT score above 170 and you will be set up quite well for admission to a top 10 school.

They won't care about your major.
They will care very much about your GPA so get the best possible one you can.

With a high LSAT, you'll be golden.wpw114 wrote:Hi,

Note: the second underline is much more important than the first.
Also, make no assumptions about how you'll do on the LSAT until you've actually taken a few practice tests.

I am willing to bet good money that you could go to the university of Phoexnix and major in Interdisciplinary Studies and still get into the T14 (with exception of HYS) if you have a 3.9 and a 170+.
If you are at an Ivy with a high GPA all you really need, as everyone else has said, is a 170+ and a pulse to make T10.

I was a Sociology major too... I was suprised initially by how much I ended up loving a discipline I initially chose to graduate with a degree in because I had a lot of credits in it. I think if there was a better job market for PhDs I might have even gotten one... I ended up loving it that much.GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:I was a Soc major (with two minors) and I attend a top 3 school.
