It would make for an interesting sidenote in your personal statement, but it won't override a poor LSAT score. Just focus on the test.

It might get you an application fee waiver. Beyond that, anything would just be a guess. Can you threaten to take your name back ?

Thought this thread seemed similar to me for some reason....
So TLS has the descendants of both the founders of UPenn (but not the Law school itself as was hashed out) and Cornell?
Weird.

On that note, imagine having to be the Cornell adcomm writing a reject letter to Mr. Cornell.
"Dear Mr. Cornell:
...Unfortunately, we are unable to accept you to Cornell..."
Or more awkwardly, a wait list announcement asking Mr. Cornell to confirm that he is still interested in attending Cornell.

Lineage on its own isn't gonna get him much. Lineage as an indicator of wealth, power or influence is what counts, and it doesn't sound like OP has any of the three.aliarrow wrote:You must be new to college admissionskaiser wrote:It would make for an interesting sidenote in your personal statement, but it won't override a poor LSAT score. Being a poor Cornell without influence or power might be a bit of a boost, but it's not like being a Bush, Kennedy, Rockefeller or Pritzker.

On the other hand, were he born a Cooley he would be pretty much guaranteed a full scholarship with top 10% stipulation from his namesake.rinkrat19 wrote:Lineage on its own isn't gonna get him much. TBF, there was a poster who got into Yale with like a 3.7, 158 non-URM because of his lineage.rinkrat19 wrote:Lineage on its own isn't gonna get him much. New admin advice: legally change your name to that of your target law school. "Mr. George Town, thank you for submitting your application..."

Cornelius Vanderbilt VI walked right into Vandy... mostly because he did Teach For America and was a pre-law major.

It was probably a double major. That makes all the difference to adcomms, you know.orm518 wrote:I'd heard he was a Criminal Justice major, no?Fred_McGriff wrote:Cornelius Vanderbilt VI walked right into Vandy... mostly because he did Teach For America and was a pre-law major.

He studied abroad. They were pretty blown away by someone having experience studying in another country, not something they had really seen before.

Are the Carnegies still hot shit? Half of Pittsburgh is named after 'em; that has to account for something.rinkrat19 wrote:Lineage on its own isn't gonna get him much. So what you're saying is I should have told the adcoms that my 26th great grandfather on my mother's side was King of Scotland (900 or so years ago). Damn it. I knew I forgot something.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
