When is it appropriate/inappropriate to send 3 recs?

Post by BillsFan9907 » Sat Apr 02, 2011 10:48 pm

Are there any good rules of thumb in determining when you should and should not send an additional req?

For me, I'm trying to decide because I've been out of undergrad since 2010 (started grad this year in 2011). BUT given extensive work experience, I think it's only appropriate to have one recommendation from my boss.

Would it be wise for me to send a third recommendation from an academic source. I was thinking one grad and one undergrad.

So in total two academic, one professional?

I agree. 3 isn't going overboard if they aren't the same, and given that it's two different schools and work, i doubt they are identical. go for it. good luck!

I was thinking I should be okay, but I wasn't positive because I know applicants are advised to not unnecessarily add to the burden of the adcoms. I will go ahead and do it. Thanks!
