Asian-Americans

Post by NSTL » Sat Apr 02, 2011 1:30 pm

I have seen multiple posts suggesting that the Asian-American community is not looked down upon by the admission commity of most law schools, but at the same time I hear that an Asian-American student must achieve a higher LSAT score (determined by the school) than a caucasian applicant in order to remain competitive.

Now my question is, what is the truth?
Is the Asian-American community under more strict requirements than other races?
I am talking about the T14's here.

Asians are looked at the same as whites. In fact they are looked at the same as everyone else except URMs.

Law school is not the same as undergrad.

What kind of response do you expect? Because it certainly won't have any statistical or factual truth to it. Seriously, what difference does it make? It is one of those factors that you cannot control in the Admissions process, it is one of those factors you cannot "game".

This seems to be true. There just aren't as many qualified Asians applying to law schools as there are for undergrads. You won't get penalized for being Asian as you were during undergrad apps (at least that's how my cycle is turning out).
