Won't mean anything at all. Not even a little tiny bit.

The general rule is that if your name ain't on a building, it ain't gonna help. Even then, we have no data to suggest that it would, only that it would seem so.pineappledazzler wrote:With numbers in the ballpark for Penn (LSAT 174, GPA unknown due to odd grading system at overseas university), would having a parent who went to Penn as an undergrad provide any tipping factor for admission, or is legacy not really the same for law school like it is for undergrad admissions?

If your parent had went to Penn law school it might help in a very very small way, but having relatives that went to the UG probably won't matter at all.pineappledazzler wrote:With numbers in the ballpark for Penn (LSAT 174, GPA unknown due to odd grading system at overseas university), would having a parent who went to Penn as an undergrad provide any tipping factor for admission, or is legacy not really the same for law school like it is for undergrad admissions?

And Relatives do not really provide a boost unless they donated ALOT of money and/or very influential.

Bro, 174 last and no GPA, you shouldn't have a problem.pineappledazzler wrote:With numbers in the ballpark for Penn (LSAT 174, GPA unknown due to odd grading system at overseas university), would having a parent who went to Penn as an undergrad provide any tipping factor for admission, or is legacy not really the same for law school like it is for undergrad admissions?

But with a 174 and no GPA, I'm confused why you aren't looking at CCN or even HYS schools. Go apply to a more highly regarded school --> Profit
Edit: In case of Veyron...Not trolling Penn - I think it's a great place

Not entirely true. Penn is very into the one university concept. Children of law students get the legacy "bump" for UG (and special help in the admissions process). Don't know why it wouldn't work the other way around. Unlikely to be determinative, however.paratactical wrote:If your parent had went to Penn law school it might help in a very very small way, but having relatives that went to the UG probably won't matter at all.pineappledazzler wrote:With numbers in the ballpark for Penn (LSAT 174, GPA unknown due to odd grading system at overseas university), would having a parent who went to Penn as an undergrad provide any tipping factor for admission, or is legacy not really the same for law school like it is for undergrad admissions?

I am looking at T6 too but can't count on admission to any particular school - am probably looking across the T14 and maybe a few T20 for safeties. Thanks for responses!
