So I'm building a website

Post by pegger21 » Mon Mar 21, 2011 10:20 pm

It' a LOCI more or less, somewhat more in depth but only a couple of paragraphs in total.

It's only for Gtown because that's where I want to go and I have a sliver of integrity.

3.1, 172, I have some softs: Gtown is a longshot for me.

I'm not exactly Mark Zuckerberg when it comes to coding but I've managed to piece together a pretty respectable website. I'm keeping it short and sweet. I just can't decide whether or not I really want to send it to the admissions office.

I'm not really interested having my admittedly slim chance of admission go down in a flaming ball of glory but I'm also reluctant to go quietly into the night...err...U of Iowa.

I'd like some feedback on this idea.

Fuck that. Send them the website and be different.

The most successful people take risks that are perceived as great but in reality aren't so. I believe this is one of those situations. It is your dream school, you are admittedly a long shot, and the fact you can distinguish yourself from the other applicants can go a long way.

Best of luck.

i actually agree with this. you really think they're on the verge of admitting a 172/3.1, and an unusual LOCI changes their minds? come on. you're probably not getting in anyway, so why not try something crazy?

If he's not getting in, he's not getting in. Who gives a shit about being the subject about a bunch of adcomms ridiculing someone trying to do things a bit different?

Argument assumes that a solid LOCI in lieu of this website would likewise defer to a seemingly predetermined admissions result.

"If he's not getting in, he's not getting in" --> then what's the point of all this? And what if this website were the reason he/she didn't get in? durrrrrr

Tagging so I have something to entertain me tomorrow morning in Con Law.

I think I like the idea, if it is done tastefully and carefully.

"Oh, we were going to let this kid in, but he tried to do things a little different than every other people on the WL and for that, fuck him."

I'm addressing it on the presumption that he is a long-shot to get in; it seems that he shouldn't be too far removed from doing so, but if he is, and its his dream school, I think he's gotta do something to set himself apart.

And yes, "if he's not getting in, he's not getting in" is a redundant and stupid statement. Hence my 3.0.

In case there is any confusion, I don't think he is a long-shot either. But I am not familiar with GULC's admission's tendencies, and went on the OPs word that he doesn't think he stands a good chance.
