Re: US News Recruiter Rankings
Remember this is firm recruiting. Firms probably hate Yale because they are competing with law schools for some of the best applicants. Stanford probably gets a dent in its reputation because of the regional bias of the students.thecilent wrote:Harvard before Yale and Stanford - give me a break.Bumi wrote:I believe these came out today, and searched TLS to see if they'd been posted yet. Doubt it. Virginia is 6, and duke 8. Both also not mentioned.CanadianWolf wrote:Did the author let one of the new school ranks slip when 8th place for Northwestern was not noted as being better than their USNews ranking even though Michigan & Cornell (tied at 8th with Northwestern, Chicago & Berkeley) were tagged as being lower ranked than 8th place ?

If that was the case, why did W&L out-perform its ranking?ExpectLess wrote:Actually, Yale, Chicago, Penn, Berkeley all underperformed their ranking, and they all have relatively small class sizes. All this survey did was regurgitate USNews rankings with a tilt toward large class sizes.

Obvious bias against a few STTTate schools, see e.g. UPenn State, UCLA, Texas. Curious Michigan trolling thoughCurry wrote:Lol@Emory beating out UCLA

I think the trend would get hazier once you go past the T14 and schools start to clump together.columbia86 wrote:If that was the case, why did W&L out-perform its ranking?ExpectLess wrote:Actually, Yale, Chicago, Penn, Berkeley all underperformed their ranking, and they all have relatively small class sizes. But virtually every small school in the top ten underperformed, which seems like a trend.

My favorite quote was "Harvard or Yale? Which is better? It's a perennial question for prospective students picking a law school to attend."piccolittle wrote:Lol at "But now Harvard University has something to crow about."

Perennial question for 1% of prospective students picking a law school to attend.

Re: US News Recruiter Rankings
I don't see how Stanford took a hit here. They've never been number 1 on any rankings out there. This pretty much affirms that they'll always be second, at least in legal circles, to either Yale or/and Harvardbdubs wrote:Remember this is firm recruiting.
