Waitlist... Defer
If you're accepted off of a waitlist at a school, are you allowed to defer admission until the following year?

Depends, if you were WLed for YP purposes, then I would think so.
If you were pulled off to meet a certain numbers need, then not likely. W&L specified that in their waitlist last year when they pulled me off of it.

Some schools explicitly state no when they give you the WL offer. That said, what akili says is true. You can always ask when you are offered the spot.
