Re: What to do with a year off? Help me plan my life
A little time off seems ideal in your situation. You'll need 2-3+ years for NU (assuming you have no other significant work experience).
Go on a national/international job search, apply to peace corps, teach for america, americorps, etc.

agreed. do something really cool with your life that you won't get to do again. the rest of the next 40+ years will be spent working long days and pouring over documents with stress about mortgages and loan repayments.rman1201 wrote:A little time off seems ideal in your situation. intern / travel - just do something that will make your law school app stand out as a "different background" candidate. you know how many people they get who are sorority / fraternity presidents or who started university clubs? because those things make people a better lawyer ...

Any other thoughts? I applied to TFA but I don't know how likely it is that I will be accepted

You could visit Egypt. I'm sure that would make a compelling personal statement.

I think that this is really your best option. Or you could go to Iran, get arrested, tortured, and then hopefully released from prison. Write a book on human rights, get a mediocre LSAT score, write a personal statement on your experiences, fame, and why you want to study human rights law, and get into Yale.
Just enjoy yourself.

Get a real office job and live on your own for a bit. It's a huge growth experience and a year or to of it can really help you figure out direction and what's important to you.

Get a job and have fun. I have been working an internship/job at an insurance company. Makes me want to go to law school in the fall real bad.
