Re: The Inordinately Long Wait Thread 2010-11
I called the American admissions office a few weeks ago just after submitting my application to ask about campus visits and attending a class. Little help was offered, the woman I spoke with (a current student) said to check the website and follow directions. That's all. I asked for more information and/or to speak with an advisor/admissions counselor and she grew impatient, telling me they were understaffed.
Not sure what this means, though it could have something to do with the long wait period.

I applied to Albany ( super super safety) back on October 30th. Went UR 12/1. no decision. Contacted them and was told that i would have to wait at lest 2 more weeks.
I have allready crossed them off my list, but ive waited so long, i want to see what their decision is.

Re: The Inordinately Long Wait Thread 2010-11
Seems silly to talk about it in terms of weeks at this point.
UVA - a quarter of a year
Stanford - almost a third of a year
Yale - almost a third of a year
If you don't include hold emails as updates, then throw Michigan and Columbia in there too.

I submitted my first applications in early September. So Duke, NYU, Stanford are going on 5 months. UM, Columbia, and Harvard all held me.

Of course. These are legitimate waiting periods, though they may be inordinate.AboveTheLawSchool wrote:Did you remember to put your name and/or e-mail on your applications? haha

Someone posted they were waiting on McGeorge since 9/7. I think he/she takes the prize.

I sent in my apps the first week of October. Harvard held me, so I at least I know they still have my app. Columbia though = crickets. And acceptances, holds, waitlists, and rejections have all gone out.

Since September? That's crazy. Numbers? Are they waiting for the Feb. LSAT or something?

Re: The Inordinately Long Wait Thread 2010-11
Nah, since mid-October. Is my math off? You can blame the brewskies if it is. Not waiting on the February LSAT. NYU I think has been holding off on waitlists. Duke has been holding off on RD applicants. Michigan apparently just doesn't like me and also seems to be holding off on waitlists. And then Vandy...who knows on that one.Verity wrote:whitman wrote:Vanderbilt: 15 weeks

Numbers are semi-splitter. Above 75th LSAT at all but NYU, a hair below 25th GPA for most.

I've accepted that my cycle will continue into late March... I'm very impatient when it comes to these things and I might just claw my eyes out by then... I'm serious but not really serious

Under review with UVA since Oct 12. Similar dates for U of M and Columbia.

FYI, this doesn't include waitlist decisions. Obviously they take longer. We're talking about straight-up regular decisions.Stanford4Me wrote:Just so you know, there were people last cycle whose waits exceeded 6 or 7 months (the longest I remember was. 8 weeks is child's play.

Yup. Straight up decisions. Felt sorry for them (this was @ NYU btw, if anyone applied there).Verity wrote:FYI, this doesn't include waitlist decisions. Obviously they take longer. I'm at the 3 month mark for IUB
When does this become an LOCI situation? Or just a friendly 'did it get lost in the mail?' phone call?
Especially hard with no status checker.
