3.0/166-Retake? Forum

Hey all,

I am from south Florida and wish to practice here. I have a $20,000 scholarship from FSU and will likely pay sticker at UF. Would it be worth it to wait a cycle, retake (I could probably break 170, I ran out of time during the first section and guessed about 5 questions), and work my butt off? Or would a 170 not make a difference at all given my career goals. I have a girl that I care deeply about down here FWIW. Thanks for any insight.

Curious as to what those of you who are saying get a 170 and retake think he will end up at ? WUSTL/Illinois ? UVA ed(doubtful) ? How will this give him significantly better options considering he would be more in debt and not exactly in at sure shot schools for FL...

I've also worked in either a full or part time capacity throughout my entire UG career.

Well, a 170 may put Vandy, GULC, and UVA into play. Good arguments can be made that the OP will have a better shot in his home market by going to Vandy, GULC, or UVA instead of a school in Florida. Depending on the OP's work experience - he said he had worked during UG - Northwestern might also be an option. Or, the OP could leverage a higher LSAT into a full ride at schools he is looking at now.

In regards to your girl, a year of work may let you see w/e that relationship is going. Which would presumably allow for a more calculated decision about whether to stay in Florida for school, move alone, or asking your girl to move with you.
