Visit while under review?
I am under review at 3 of my top choice schools. One has been for over 3 weeks and survived 2 decision waves, one has been a little over 2 weeks and a "Reviewed, no decision reached" status, and one just went UR about a week ago and missed an admit wave recently.
Would it be a good idea to go schedule a visit / try and meet with someone that might make a difference at any of these schools? It seems clear that my numbers are competitive (or else I would be denied/waitlisted like other people have who were UR with me) but people with seemingly better softs are getting the nod with same/worse numbers.
Any downside besides "they might not like you" ?

I imagine that it would incredibly suck if you walked into the admissions office just as you receive the ding email on your phone.

Downside: You might not be as charming or personable as you think you are...
Upside: Um, can't think of any.
If you want to visit, visit. Don't go thinking you're going to do or say something that'll get you over the hump.

Yes, but the opportunities and possibilities for an outrageous scene would be endlesschampsound wrote:I imagine that it would incredibly suck if you walked into the admissions office just as you receive the ding email on your phone.

I honestly don't think going could hurt unless you're just an ass in person, but if these schools are across the country or even in a different state, I don't think it's worth it. At the end of the day, your app is going to do the talking, if your confident in your PS and DS, you should get in. It is situations like this that your PS can put you over the hump.
