How to email admissions and ask if you can switch from ED to
RD? I know this means I have no shot at the school, but what's the best way to go about wording it? I am having trouble coming up with something, short, polite and concise? Any suggestions?

Just say something like they are still your top choice but due to changing financial situations you no longer feel like you are able to commit to any school at full price without weighing scholarship offers elsewhere.

This. It's good to give a reason, such as changing financial situations (even if your financial situation itself hasn't changed, just your consideration), for why you're changing. Otherwise, I'd be inclined to think that they're just like "why didn't he/she take this into account when he/she first signed the contract?"2014 wrote:Just say something like they are still your top choice but due to changing financial situations you no longer feel like you are able to commit to any school at full price without weighing scholarship offers elsewhere.

This is what I was thinking – and it’s true too! I found out that my parents are not going to be able to contribute as much money as I thought they would. The school remains my top choice, and I would still strongly consider paying sticker, but I would regret at least not being able to weigh the offers of other schools.

I emailed them on Friday asking to be switched to RD and was waitlisted on Monday (didn't even think they would be open?). No joke. I have a 3.9+ GPA and a 169 LSAT. This sucks, because I really do love the school and it remains my first choice. Oh well, but that sure was fast. Damn.

Do you seriously think so? I will die if I don't end up getting any money from Cornell, GULC, or Michigan AND I don't get off Duke's wait list.

One person pulled their ED from Duke and got waitlisted within an hour. But another pulled her ED from Penn and ended up getting in. It just depends on the school.

the schools in the lower end of the T14 have egos that do not want to be bruised
