Why Yale?
So I just submitted my Yale app, and it's my first choice for a number of reasons, both obvious and not obvious. They didn't ask for a "Why Yale?" essay, but I know I could write a damn good one. It would also complement my personal statement well (general ps theme: I'm attracted to the intellectual aspects of law).
Should I add a brief "Why Yale"? Or would it come off as desperate or redundant?
(Numbers: 174/3.81, but it's a 3.95 if you ignore two bad grades I received freshman year at a state school before I transferred to a well-ranked liberal arts school).

Re: Why Yale?
The conventional wisdom is that it is unnecessary... Yale already knows more or less why everyone wants to go there.

Re: Why Yale?
Definitely no Why Yale. Why Xs have fallen out of favor in general on TLS (at least when I was applying), unless you have a really specific and personal reason. They should almost never be written for the top handful of schools.

Okay. Thanks for the help!
Maybe not... but Yale touts themselves at looking at "the candidate" more than the numbers, so hopefully it'll help them justify admitting a GPA at their 25th percentile. *crosses fingers*Knock wrote:That won't help you.

Indeed! I just looked it up. not only has Yale been #1 for eons, but also for atoms and molecules in which the total number of electrons is not equal to the total number of protons. Who knew they were such prestige whores?MrPapagiorgio wrote:HYS knows you want to go there. Especially Yale. It has been number one for ions.
sorry, had to
