Vanderbilt Scholarship Essays
Hey, I know the deadline for these is Monday.
If you're generally good for them in terms of #'s, but don't have t-5 full ride #'s and thus have very little chance to win (and being they give partial merit awards to people who don't win), is it a negative to not do them?
Would Vanderbilt take an applicant's lack of doing them as a lack of interest?

No idea, but I'm above their GPA median and at their LSAT median; I still wrote them. Why not give it a shot?

The law scholars merit awards are full scholarships. Every admitted student is considered for scholarships. However, to be considered for the lsma one must complete the application. I cannot speak to whether or not they consider completion of the lsma application in the allocation of other scholarship money.justadude55 wrote:Hey, I know the deadline for these is Monday.

because i don't have anything interesting i can honestly say about why i want to practice law and why they should pick me - i don't want to hurt my app. i also don't want to hurt my app by not doing one.

Re: Vanderbilt Scholarship Essays
I've searched TLS for this (and the internet in general):
There is no consensus as to how this affects the app, though many of the people that fill out this part of the application do receive scholarship money. However, these people could most likely have received the money without filling at the additional app. It's impossible to know.
They also seem to be based heavily on softs. My understanding is that the other scholarships Vandy gives out are largely based on GPA/LSAT, but these are for something more.
I am filling them out, and I am at their median LSAT and above median GPA. I don't feel like it can hurt.
