Recently decided to apply to UCLA

Post by glitched » Mon Jan 03, 2011 4:37 am

Hello all,

I had a few questions for all you people who know about UCLA's application process. Recent events have spurred me on to apply to UCLA rather late in the cycle. But I was wondering if a Why UCLA is worth it or should I just submit as fast as possible? I have a few good reasons for wanting to go to UCLA - born and raised in LA, been here my whole life outside of undergrad, and family recently moved back to LA for next year. Thanks for the help!

It depends on your numbers if it is worth it or not...

Above both 75. I have a fee waiver too. So applying is definitely worth it. I just now want to do as much as I can do. I understand the mistake I made.

I think it is good idea to do the supplemental essay, but it is not a generic Why UCLA? essay. They want to know how you can make a distinctive contribution to a journal or program at UCLA.

UCLA gives you the option to write a statement about how you will contribute to a specific journal or program at the school, in contrast to a simple "Why X" statement.
