Attaching a picture to an application
I thought about attaching a picture to my applications. does anyone know if this is a good idea? The application does not ask for a picture. i just thought it might be a nice touch. Thanks!

Re: Attaching a picture to an application
just read a study on this...
...if you are an attractive female, do not attach your pic
...if you are an attractive mail (i dont think you are a guy), then DO attach a pic
--LinkRemoved--
not the original article i read, but it talks about it

I think something like this happened in a movie once. It was one of the "funny" parts if I recall correctly.
I am certain that you should do it.

How could we decide whether or not you should attach without you posting it here first?
We can also decide whether or not you're as attractive as you think.

Re: Attaching a picture to an application
I am just wondering if it's a good practice to send something extra like a photo if the admissions committee doesn't ask for it. i would hate for it to penalize me. the attractiveness study was based on jobs. i dont know if it holds true for schools but it very well could. i'm out of college so i can't ask a law school advisor.

This study just shows that Israeli women are bitter and/or insecure.
I would say forgo the picture. After working in admissions during undergrad, I can say with confidence that if a school didn't ask for a given thing, DO NOT SEND IT. The simplest way to ruin any application (for work or school) is to show you aren't good at following guidelines, and if the application doesn't specifically request a photo with the resume, just leave it out.
They don't care. No matter what you look like. They. Do. Not. Care.

Elle Woods case is in direct contradiction with this study. She is an attractive female and sent in a VIDEO! Leave alone a picture. Ultimately she was accepted to Harvard.

FWIW, if you have exceptional knockers and a great face, the adcomms may take note of your picture. But lets be honest, you don't. Otherwise you would've already attached a picture and never would have had to ask an internet board for reassurance.

This is just the sort of unconventional move that will differentiate you. People on this site are really conservative and risk averse. Do it if you think it might help.

What if you have a great mustache like the one of the Captain who talks to George Clooney in Up In The Air at the end when he finally get 10 million miles?
I'd definitely want the adcomms to know what kind of lawyerly aura I could bring to the law campus if I had a mustache like that

I think you guys are just jealous that you don't have this in your back pocket. Schools care about getting students placed in jobs. Attractive people interview better. OP should take the opportunity to prove she's going to interview well. No risk, no reward.T6Hopeful wrote:seespotrun wrote:what is this i dont even

Re: Attaching a picture to an application
Nope, don't send it. I asked several admissions committee if I should send a pic (not for the same reason as you, it was to supplement my addendum), and they all told me they didn't want any pictures in reviewing an application.ashleykj1121 wrote:I thought about attaching a picture to my applications. does anyone know if this is a good idea? Edit: Well, now I take that back....
I know one Yale alumni who sent in a supplemental video of him reading his personal statement but while impersonating GW Bush, and pretending not to know what the bigger words meant, etc. He was accepted.
I know all these guys are screwing around, but depending on how risky you want to be, maybe sending it in with the fake mustache and other such humor might help.....
Even so, I'd only send it to reaches and safetys.

This has to be a flame. Unless you're an actor, or a job posting requires it, you do never attach a picture.nickwar wrote:How could we decide whether or not you should attach without you posting it here first?

I go to Berkeley and you should definitely do this for your Berkeley application. I know several people on the committee. This would annoy them.ashleykj1121 wrote:I thought about attaching a picture to my applications. does anyone know if this is a good idea? Apply to law school in China. Attaching pictures to applications is common practice here.

This thread is unbelievable lol.
OP, attach the picture if you want to, in the end it will be your numbers that decide if you get in or not.
