NYU schollies, too late or get crackin'?
Trying to puzzle out what this means. can I still make the deadline or should I just submit?
"Applicants who wish to be considered for the following Scholarship Programs must complete their applications by January 1 and must have a complete law school report ready to be requested by the Office of Admissions no later than January 1:"

I would hurry and submit. If everything is in (transcripts, LOR, everything else), your LSAC file could be ready to be accessed in one day.

Yeah, I called last week and the woman I spoke with assured me that as long as I had it in by the 1st, I would be considered. She said fax is fine (include LSAC number, etc.) Now all I have to do is actually write this thing...

Is this assuming that you have checked off the corresponding portion on your application that you wish to be considered for the scholly?NYC_7911 wrote:Yeah, I called last week and the woman I spoke with assured me that as long as I had it in by the 1st, I would be considered. Doesn't matter. If you didn't, reprint page 4 of the application, sign it in the appropriate spot, and send that along with your essay. Sorry, forgot to mention that.RJ127 wrote:Is this assuming that you have checked off the corresponding portion on your application that you wish to be considered for the scholly?NYC_7911 wrote:Yeah, I called last week and the woman I spoke with assured me that as long as I had it in by the 1st, I would be considered. Perfect. thanks a lot, NYC. I will reprint the last page, mark the scholarship and include the essay. Is their fax # listed on the website?NYC_7911 wrote:Doesn't matter. Yep, but it's: (212) 995-4527. If you feel like sharing, which are you applying for?RJ127 wrote:

AnBryce. URM + first in family to go to UG and Grad school. It's a long shot since there are very few scholarships, but it's my best shot I think. This essay needs to be epic though.NYC_7911 wrote:Yep, but it's: (212) 995-4527. If you feel like sharing, which are you applying for?RJ127 wrote:

Good luck! I'm trying for the Furman, and also feel like it's a long shot. Definitely worth a shot, though.RJ127 wrote:NYC_7911 wrote:

Wait, we can't just email the essay if we've already submitted our app with the appropriate box checked? NYU is confusing.

That's what I was going to do until popular opinion swayed me. I'm going to attach a short cover letter and include the essay with the re-print out of the scholarship page from the app then just fax it all over.ahduth wrote:Wait, we can't just email the essay if we've already submitted our app with the appropriate box checked? Isn't their office closed anyhow? I should just email it directly to the people who run the program. I dunno about the admissions office lol.

Re: NYU schollies, too late or get crackin'?
Maybe as long as its been postmarked before January 1st we would be okay? I might just do both for safety. Not sure if that has any negative bearing on my application though.ahduth wrote:Isn't their office closed anyhow? I should just email it directly to the people who run the program. My experience with NYU administration in undergrad was... have you ever seen the movie Brazil? It's a little different in the end, inasmuch as you get a degree instead of being tortured. But you still go insane.RJ127 wrote:Just tried to fax and the fax line wasnt picking up. Anybody have any luck?
I was vaguely serious about directly emailing the people in charge of the program. If admissions decides to strike your scholarship opportunity based on a timestamp, those are the people who will argue on your behalf (even if you aren't going to get it). I know it sounds bizarre. But you need to break through that initial layer of automated phone systems / know-nothing undergrads picking up centralized lines / offices that are never open and get to the actual decision-makers. Those people are usually very, very on the ball.
