Write a diversity statement or send app's without?

Post by Philipsssssss » Tue Dec 07, 2010 5:15 pm

Should I spend a couple of days on a diversity statement (I was born overseas, seen some stuff along the way), or should i not waste time and send my application asap?

Besides the diversity statement, i have all other documents in top-notch condition.

Thoughts? Would a diversity statement potentially help?

It is getting pretty late...so unless you are really gonna put out an Amazing statement, I'd send it in.

EDIT: actually, this also depends on your scores so..

3.6 LSDAC and 164 LSAT.

I have a superb why X school + very good PS. (checked by multiple people...)

I will target a couple of T14's (yes i know...not chance, but i'll try anyways).

164 is on the low end for T14, so I'd spend 2 days max cranking out a really polished diversity statement. If you can't do a really really good one in 2 days (do it now and send to friends/colleagues immediately + revise both tomorrow & day after), send in now.

Do you have interesting/unique things to say about your experience? I too was born overseas and came here around 10 years ago, but the country I'm from is probably overrepresented at schools, and what I experienced along the way was pretty normal among immigrants (initial hardships, language barrier, etc) so I didn't bother writing a diversity statement.

Good point. Well, my PS touches on my immigration from one country to another to another. Since i am very borderline numbers wise, this really bugs me as though i am "missing" a valuable part of my application.

I will try finish one up today. If i get it done, great, if not....i will send my app's in...

Do you think i can send a diversity statement later? Or is it "get it done now or forget about it"?
