List publications on resume? What about poems & photographs?

Post by kellycane » Sun Nov 28, 2010 1:27 am

Hey everyone,

I worked as an editor for my undergrad's paper, and since then I have been working as a reporter for a FL magazine and have had articles and photographs published. I also had a poem published in a national writing magazine my senior year of high school. Should I include any or all of this in my resume under a "publications" section? I'm already having a hard time fitting everything into one page-- with community service included, it's at two pages. What do you think? If I should list my publications, should I include only the feature articles I wrote for my school's paper, or all the articles I wrote?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Put it all in there. They want to know that you can produce publishable material, that's good stuff.

One page resumes are for noobs.

Thanks for your help!

I'm trying to find an example of how to list publications (including photographs) in a resume but I can't find any. Is there any way you could point me in the right direction? Or should I omit the photography?

Thank you so much!!! :)

FTFY.

OP: don't include photography, IMO. For publications, I'd model it off the way profs do CV's. Pull up any random one on a school's website and you'll see a sample.

If you wrote more than 2-3 articles total, I would title the section "Selected Publications" (or similar, something implying that these are only some of your total work), and then choose 2-3 articles to list. They could be the features or whichever ones you're proudest of or whichever ones have the coolest names.
