Chance me!
OK, so I'm already in law school. I'm a 2L at UT. I am from Texas, and I knew I wanted to go to UT pretty early in the process, so I didn't even apply anywhere else. I was tempted to apply to NU and Vandy, but I got my scholly from UT, so I just left it at that.
So here's what I'm curious to know. How high up the T14 could I have gone if I was willing to pay sticker? Assume I peppered the T14 rather than applying to UT. My stats were:
UG: T20, 3.25, biology
LSAT: 171, 174
9 years WE: a few years in management (mortgage company), few years in lab research, and a few years in teaching
So, how would my cycle go applying with those stats. Here's the kicker: URM (MA).
1. Yale - out (obviously)
2. Harvard - out
3. Stanford - out
4. Columbia - out?
5. Chicago - out?
6. NYU -out?
7. Berkeley - out
7. Penn - ?
9. Michigan - ?
10. UVa - ?
11. Duke - in?
11. NU - in
13. Cornell - in
14. Georgetown - in
What do you all think? Just curious. Doesn't really matter now, but I've always wondered "what if?"

Re: Chance me!
A patent-eligible URM with good WE and a sky-high LSAT? Harvard would definitely be in play, and CCN would be your reasonable targets. The rest of the T14 would have given you money. But Texas with no debt ain't bad, either.

Best guess for the highest school you might have gotten in at would be Penn.

Edit: If URM, then Columbia.

Re: Chance me!
LSN says you would have had a good shot at some pretty awesome schools. Obviously a URM splitter will have a pretty unpredictable cycle, but each of these LSN profiles have similar numbers/are URM and got Darrow scholarships at Michigan along with other awesome offers (indy guy got harvard)

In other words, you made coin then got out??? I know a few people in mortgage business that greatly attributed to the collapse.JazzOne wrote:lolr6_philly wrote:

Thought about that, but the GPA and retake made me say Penn.r6_philly wrote:Has a shot for NYU/Columbia probably if packaged right.MysticalWheel wrote:Best guess for the highest school you might have gotten in at would be Penn.

Re: Chance me!
Some people with worse GAP + LSAT got full rides through the named scholarships. Like I say, you have to package it right. 2 LSAT in the 170's, URM, they will overlook the GPA especially being so old (before grade inflation).MysticalWheel wrote:Thought about that, but the GPA and retake made me say Penn.r6_philly wrote:Has a shot for NYU/Columbia probably if packaged right.MysticalWheel wrote:Best guess for the highest school you might have gotten in at would be Penn.

Nah man, I'm not offended. That was my first job after college. I had problems with some of the things I saw, so I got out as quickly as I could.r6_philly wrote:In other words, you made coin then got out??? If you look at my original post, Penn was for non-URM predictions; Columbia was for URM.r6_philly wrote:Some people with worse GAP + LSAT got full rides through the named scholarships.
