update your application

Post by northwood » Wed Nov 17, 2010 11:13 am

how does this sound:

Dead Admissions Council:
My name is ________ LSAC number L222202. I am writing to inform you that I am no longer planning on taking the December LSAT. WHen I checked my application status, it stated that the file was incomplete- pending results of the december lsat. Can you please update my application to reflect this change.

I thank you for your time and help with this matter.

Respectfully,

__________

Might not want to address it as "Dead Admissions Council:"

They could certainly take that the wrong way....

thanks for the help!

I know I need to personalize and individualize each application, but other than that does the rest of the e-mail sound allright? Should I include anything else?

Well, I would capitalize the second reference to "December LSAT" and punctuate the penultimate sentence properly.

I had put that a public safety officer had cited me for an offense when in reality it was a police officer. When I originally submitted I did not realize the error, but now that I noticed it and notified the two schools of the error I'm afraid that it just puts up a red flag...thoughts?
I think police officer, public safety officer, and peace officer are acceptable synonyms.

no. but you are worrying too much

if you said campus police, you were fine. Anything that is similar to that is fine. Your stressing yourself out over a small deal. You will be fine, I promise

only because i'm stressed and now thinking through all the scenarios- when you update a file, will the email request be included or just the new attachment itself?

im sure the email request will be included in your folder ( they print out the application and put it in one).

If you are that worried, call the school in the am and explain. Im sure they will tell you what to do, so you can rest easy

yeah it's fine. this email isn't going to affect your app. and might not even make it past the email screener, so just send it and dont worry.
