Waiver from UPenn in the mail...
I just got a booklet and a letter in the mail today (written 11/4, postmarked 11/11) saying my app fee would be waived at UPenn. I was suprised to get unsolicited info from them, and a waiver by snail mail of all methods. I'll definitely apply since it'll only be $12 and I'd love to go there, just seems like a huge reach given my 162/3.99. Anyone else get a Penn waiver by mail so late in the game?

Because they want to reject you and boost their selectivity rating.

Oh yea, I don't doubt it, but I just thought it's interesting they MAIL them. I still would have taken my chances if they emailed it to me, lol.

I've had quite a few mailed fee waivers with school info. Even though I am set on where have applied, I have to admit that having a school send a mailed letter certainly makes me think about applying to a school way more than an email. They probably can get more applications from blanketing mailed fee waivers on questionable numbers than mere emails.

I applied to USC after receive the viewbook in the mail. Did not apply after the email, it actually took the view book. I wouldn't surprised if they WL me, but I appreciate the effort and applied in return.

Yeah I thought the mailed fee waiver was funny, but it did the trick; I would not have applied otherwise.

I was actually planning on applying last week, luckily I didn't and just got it in the mail and am very happy because it's one of my final apps and at this point the 80 dollars saved is very noticeable and freaking awesome.

moot point, they refund your fee if you apply before getting an eventual waiver.mst wrote:I was actually planning on applying last week, luckily I didn't and just got it in the mail and am very happy because it's one of my final apps and at this point the 80 dollars saved is very noticeable and freaking awesome.

I just received a fee waiver via email from UPenn a few minutes ago. It's past the deadline and they never sent me any brochures...I'm kind of confused. My numbers are at the median. Anyone have a clue?

Apply. UVa is trying hard with $$$ to shore up the mean. Maybe Penn's trying to make sure they can stay the same.lalu wrote:I just received a fee waiver via email from UPenn a few minutes ago.
