Using school's name in Personal Statement. POLLLLL
Im writing my personal statement for Penn and was wondering:
Would it sound toooo informal to use "Penn" in my PS or should i stick with "the University of Pennsylvania"? The problem I have is I say "the University of Pennsylvania" law school in two consecutive sentences and want to mix it up a tad

I would say the full name of the law school the first time you mention it. The second time, the shorthand should be fine. If they ding you, it won't be for that.

A sure fire way is to look on Penn's website. Penn has PENN LAW is huge letters then The university of pennsylvania law school In tiny letters underneath. I assumed it would be ok to refer to it as such since that is how they advertise themselves.

This. That's what I did for mine. You look for their official name, and then how they refer to themselves in their "About Us" section or whatever. Like, "Michigan Law" or whatever. You just don't want to screw up and say the Georgetown School of Law when it's the Law Center or whatever.AreJay711 wrote:A sure fire way is to look on Penn's website.
