What can I do to increase chances of admission at UCLA? Forum

So I'm in a bit of a GPA-pickle (not quite as delicious as kosher dills). I graduated this past April with a 3.33 gpa and got a 175 (woohoo!) on the October LSAT. I am not applying for another two years (aka I will be applying in 2012 to start in 2013) because I am waiting for my SO to finish grad school in the spring of 2012 and get a job. As an engineer with contacts in Cali, we are guessing that is where he will end up.

Given my lackluster UG performance (i.e. 3.33 gpa), it looks like Stanford and Berkley are out. UCLA will, I'm guessing, be my best shot of a good school (even though they, too, are gpa snobs). I want to know what I can do in the next 2 to 3 years to increase my chance of admission. I will qualify for CA residency, however I have only a liberal arts degree with minimal work experience (so awesome job=unlikely). Any suggestions?

In case it's helpful, I currently live in VA...so establishing contacts with the school is problematic.

I was about to say I dont think UVA or NW are out, but I just realized you said you want to be in Cali.
Get a job, do some volunteer work. Though these "soft" factors wont matter as much as your 175, 3.33
