168/3.96 - where to apply? Forum

I'm having trouble deciding where my best bets would be. I'm not interested in ED'ing anywhere as I probably won't be able to get my app in early enough, and there's not one school I KNOW I would attend no matter what kind of $$ came from other schools. My softs are weak-average. Should I be looking at MVP or Cornell range? Or Texas/UCLA/Vandy? I'm not so concerned with where I end up geographically, more about job prospects and being able to pay off whatever loans I incur. I guess I just need some idea of what constitutes some good safety, target, and reach schools for my numbers.

Oh, and my LORs were *just* sent out so I'm guessing I'll be going complete at schools around Thanksgiving since 1 is being faxed but 2 snail-mailed. Is this going to hurt me at all? I was planning on being done THIS week, but I didn't factor in how long it would take my recommendors to write the letters.

Whats the school you would attend no matter what? I think you have a shot at MVPB.

Same LSAT, slightly lower GPA.

I would apply far and wide with that GPA. Put together solid apps. for 7-14, and also CCN as an enormous reach. You should be accepted to most if not all of 15-20. If you're looking for $$$$, pick which schools out of 20-35ish you'd like regionally and as a school and throw an app. there if you want.

O also it takes a while to process LOR's, especially this time in the year. Hopefully everything will be ready by thanksgiving..

I guess I should just pony up the bucks and apply to a ton of places. Hopefully the late LORs don't screw me. ugh. if I apply around Thanksgiving as opposed to now, does that significantly diminish my chances at the T-14? I feel like with such borderline numbers, it probably does.

Their 25th percentile LSAT is 167, so a ~4.0/168 non-URM would have a chance with great softs.

I would definitely recommend that anyone with a 3.85+/165+ apply to SLS -- there a handful of students each year that get in with those exact numbers and you never know what the school wants in that particular year but your PS might strike a cord with the admissions officer.

If you're tight on cash and have those numbers above then don't apply to HLS/CLS b/c those two are very much numbers-oriented.

CR. WUSTL on down should be fine before February, T14 is a no-fly zone by January, and in between is somewhere... in between.
