3.8/172 worth the app fee?

Planning to apply to Yale/Stanford just in case, but in your opinion is it worth $200? I can afford to pay it, but it's not like I'm making a fortune :( ... I guess I have average softs/LORs + Teach for America with an above-average PS, FWIW.

PS Yeah I'll probably apply either way considering I'd give an arm to go to either school and didn't pay app fees elsewhere, I'm just wondering how good of a decision it actually is haha

Yea, why not? Those can be your reach schools. Suppose the admissions committee at one of those schools really likes your app; $100 per school is worth the risk IMHO.
