Should I wait a year?

I am seriously considering sitting out the 2011-2012 year in order to reapply to law school for 2012-13 if I do not get into the schools I want. What are your suggestions? If I go through with it, what should I do in the mean time to stay active?

get a job, retake the lsat if needed, and submit applications earlier next cycle
