Importance of Northwestern Law interview?
I would have to drive 2 hours for one. Numbers aside, would not doing the interview severely hurt my chances?

not really sure but they love the fact they interview.
maybe consider it this way: "would you drive 2 hours for an acceptance from NU?"

I heard the stat that 85% of those admitted did interviews, if that helps.

It probably depends on your app. If you're a 170+, 3.7+ with 2+ years WE, then you can probably get away w/o it. But if you want NU, what's 4 hours out of a day?
I think my interview seriously helped me if that helps any.

Seems like it boils down to how bad you want it.
A two hour drive is nothing.

The views from the library are pretty amazing.deadpoetnsp wrote:I drove 2.5 hours each way yesterday, and it was worth it. The interviewer made detailed notes, and some 3Ls and 1Ls took me on a great tour. The atmosphere there is pretty good - very vibrant and collaborative (lot of people discussing and studying in teams). The views of Lake Michigan are just fantastic. I would love to study there.

If you don't have any work experience, it's a must. If you do have work experience, it depends on how bad you want to get in I guess.

Do it, then spend the night in Chicago. If I had WE I would apply to NU in a heartbeat. Chicago is a great city.

I flew from NYC to Chicago for the interview. Two hour drive should not be prohibitive IF you're interested in NU.

my interviewer told me that the interviews factor in quite a bit in their decisions...a 2 hour drive is honestly nothing...i flew in from a tiny town in upstate ny and spent the night stranded in dc bc of a canceled flight... and i still think it was worth it

Important question: is the two hour drive getting you to Chicago, or to an off-campus interview? If Chicago, do it and don't hesitate. If you're just driving to get to an off-campus interview, I guess you should consider what else you're doing with your time.iwanta170 wrote:I would have to drive 2 hours for one. Like, say, if you work 100 hours a week to sustain yourself and your six terminally ill siblings who all live in complete and utter poverty, and going to the interview means you get fired and they go hungry, then strongly consider skipping it. If you were just going to spend the 5 hours playing xbox games, maybe think about going to the interview.
