For some reason LSAC did not generate a cum. GPA on my report. I contacted them and they said due to an unusual circumstance it will not appear on my reports sent to Law Schools, just my transcripts. Will schools generate their own cumulative?

well, i completed an MFA program prior to completing my UG degree. the MFA program awarded me a certificate in lieu of the MFA. however, once i finished the UG degree the certificate was converted to an MFA. it reads in my report that the MFA was awarded earlier than the BA. therefore it screws up the report. they said there was nothing they could do.

That's bizarre. At least it's not something really negative. I suspect schools will do different things, but my guess is that the majority will go with the GPA reported on your transcript by your undergraduate institution. I would use that number as the GPA in any application decisions you make. It's possible schools will compute it themselves using a different formula, but the change from that is not likely to be incredibly significant.

thanks for the input. the only other complication is that i transferred UG, twice. lol. disaster, right? may work in my favor as my final school gpa is around 3.9.

do you think an ivy mfa is a real boost?

What would your LSAC GPA jhave been if they did calculate it?

i think around 3.7

It's probably a wash in terms of admissions at most schools.

It might actually help you at HYS and Boalt.
