I realize the situation was asinine. Is this an acceptable addendum?
On the night of October 23, 2010 I was cited under xxxxxxxx University’s open container policy regarding alcoholic beverages. I was not intoxicated, nor disorderly. The situation happened as follows: I was walking nearly 50 feet from one apartment to the next, where I was stopped and cited for possession of one beer. The situation was a regrettable, embarrassing and isolated.

While that may be the case, you still broke the law or policy or w/e and you are going to want to show a bit more respect for it than you do.
In my opinion at least...

I think the OP explanation is good because it explains exactly what happened. This way, Adcoms aren't wondering whether you got a lighter citation for being drunk and disorderly and puking everywhere or something.

Good catch. Thanks for the feedback, it was definitely a surreal experience. Were it not me, I would laugh.
